Casco y obra viva: Limpieza e inspecci\u00f3n visual<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The condition of the hull (the submerged part of the hull) is critical to the efficiency and speed of your boat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Patent \/ Antifouling:<\/strong> Check the condition of the antifouling paint. If there are snails or algae attached, it&#8217;s time to clean and swell or apply a new coat to reduce friction and fuel consumption. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hull inspection:<\/strong> Check for cracks, cracks, or signs of osmosis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sacrificial anodes:<\/strong> Check the wear of zinc or aluminum anodes. Engine and propulsion system: The heart of your boat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The engine is the lifeblood of sailing. Before the first start of the season: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Fluid Levels:<\/strong> Check the engine oil level, tail\/inverter oil, and coolant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Filters:<\/strong> Change or inspect fuel (decanter) and oil filters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Impeller (Water Pump Impeller):<\/strong> Check the condition of the rubber blades on the impeller. A worn or broken impeller can cause overheating in the middle of the sea. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Spark plugs and belts:<\/strong> On petrol engines, check the condition of the spark plugs. Also check the tension and wear of the service belts. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Electrical system and batteries<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Batteries suffer a lot during the months of inactivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Battery charging:<\/strong> Measure the voltage of each battery. Charge them to 100% and check that they hold a charge after several days. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Terminals and connections:<\/strong> Clean the terminals, remove the sulfate and apply vaselilated grease or protective spray.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Navigation lights and electronics:<\/strong> Check that the masthead, port, starboard and range lights are working properly, as well as the sonar, GPS\/Plotter and VHF transmitter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Safety equipment and regulations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Safety at sea is paramount.
